Art Deco WMF and Wachtersbach ceramic Jugendstil Arts & Crafts rose pattern lunch sandwich hasp lock box. Designed by Christian Neureuther & Joseph Olbrich, circa 1910. The box with wonderful yellow, green and deep violet cartouche design surround interspaced and accented with black vertical panels all against cream background, hinged curvilinear handle. Really good example of overlapping Arts & Crafts, Jugendstil and Deco design by ceramist Christian Neureuther, who founded the Wächtersbach art department. The accented squares and Arts & Crafts rivulets representative of work influenced by the modernist Joseph Maria Olbrich. WMF Ostrich Lozenge stamp and design number 22 to the inside of the front mount and impressed with Wachtersbach marks to the base. Measures: 8.25 x 4.75 x 4.125 (not including handle). Excellent condition, minor wear to metal commensurate with age.
