Fine Georgian Silver Salver Tray London 1736 Gabriel Sleath. This George II Salver with rare Chippendale border on three knuckle foot supports, raised chippendale border. The centre beautifully engraved with original the coat of arms within further engraved border of scrolled cartouches, surmounted with a crest of a lynx passant. Diameter: 9.25 inches. Weight: 18.25 oz. Condition: Good, lovely original patina and heft, gauge of silver. Good clear marks to the underside. Gabriel Sleath was a very fine and important maker of holloware such as salvers and coffee pots. First mark entered in 1707. In 1753, he entered a partnership with Francis Crump (his former apprentice).
