ABOUT US

Toronto Dealers in Antique Jewellery, Silver and Decorative Arts 18th, 19th, 20th century.
Louis Wine (1865-1946) founded the Company in 1880. The gallery began catering to collectors in Dublin from a shop in historic Wellington Quay.  Later in 1908, he took over an existing location in Dublin's fashionable Grafton Street and renamed it Louis Wine Ltd. To the firm, came the worlds leading silver collectors seeking advice and additions to their collections.

The firm became a legend in Ireland on Grafton Street until 1981, when the growing international nature of the business, coupled with the family's optimism about our future in North America led us to relocate to Toronto.  The gallery is now located in Toronto's prestigious Yorkville.

The international thrust and outlook was first put into practice by Louis Wine's son, Harry, (1892-1969). Under him, the firm's renown extended overseas, when during the 1950's some of its finest stock was regularly exhibited by invitation in New York, Wilmington Delaware and elsewhere in the U.S.A.

Clients included William Randolph Hearst, Their Highnesses the late Prince Ranier and the late Princess Grace of Monaco, the Getty and duPont families, Heads of State, Prime Ministers as well as many museums and foreign governments.

Today, we continue our emphasis throughout North America with participation at shows in Toronto, New York, Chicago and Washington. Even in a business so closely linked with history, such continuity is rare.  Now, with the fourth generation, Louis Wine Ltd has brought the full weight of our knowledge and experience to the North American market.

Our Toronto gallery, in Yorkville, has constantly on display a full range of fine period silver, decorative arts, period jewellery from the 18th century to the 20th century.
Full repairs and restoration services are also provided. Commission purchases undertaken.
